If you've been around my site since
the year 2000, you could've been one of the unfortunate
ones who saw unfinished webcomic projects. My apologies
for those, but if it's any consolation, Random Encounter
is what those unfinished webcomic projects mutated into.
For one thing, they had parallel concepts which had monsters,
ordinary everyday characters, and death (or defying death).
Oh, and their titles usually are two words which seem to
be chosen by randomly throwing two magnetic poetry words
together.
Here's the loosely chronological order on how things morphed from one story to another:
(2000)
After Death - A story of a boy who seemingly commits
suicide and gets reincarnated as a goldfish. And to
be reincarnated back to his human form, he had to battle
the seven deadly sins as a goldfish. (Yeah, I know.
That was pretty screwed up) This was mona's first appearance
and her name back then was weena.
(2000)
Under Ground - A story of a college boy (Migo) who,
with the help of his robot (Dude), competes with his
gun-crazy arch-enemy for the prize of a ... locker.
This was the first appearance of Migo, when he still
has goggles. And this was also the first appearance
of the Goggles-girl in Random Encounter. What's up with
the goggles? I have no idea.
(2001)
Creature Feature - Girl meets boy. Girl falls in love
with boy. Girl discovers that she's a monster and the
boy she fell in love with was a vampire. They live happily
ever after. This was the first appearance of Mica and
the level 2 monster from chapter 2.
(2003)
Random Encounter - After rearranging the story and rearranging
their faces, I launched Random Encounter as a webcomic
with rpg / videogame-based humor. The concept was that
they're chased by monsters when this stranger dropped
into their lives. Halfway through chapter 2, Viper Comics
thankfully decided to publish my story.
